Never Changes

And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring. Your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” —Genesis 28:13-15 God is speaking to Jacob in this passage and what he says to him is the same promise that God gave to Abraham. He assures Jacob that He is with him wherever and whatever he does. He promises to never leave Him. For me this is huge because so often like Jacob I "go places" that seem to take me away from God. Not true, while in my heart I may be far from Him, God is right there holding me up and calling me back to Himself. He has never left me, though I have left Him, though I have made decisions from time to time that would indicate my lack of faithfulness, God never has, not even once. God never changes and for me that brings great assurance, peace and hope. It also challenges me to live in such a way that the number of times I walk away is reduced. That the things I do would draw me nearer to God not pull me away from Him. Father thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for you faithfulness, love and forgiveness. Thank you that you are always there for me. Help me to live a life that brings you honor and glory. Help me to live in such a way that I drawer nearer to you each day.
